Imagine & create what you need for your R&D project with thermoplastic extruded rods & compression molded sheets. These thermoplastic shapes expand our raw materials offering which already includes pellet resins and colorants. These new in-stock raw materials are ready to ship directly from Westlake Plastics.

EXTRUDED RODS:

Extruded rods come in either polypropylene (PP), polyphenylsulfone (PPSU), or ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE).

  • Polypropylene is chemical and impact resistant, biocompatible, and has low moisture absorption. Suitable sterilization methods include steam autoclaving, EtO, and cold sterilization.
  • Polyphenylsulfone offers good impact resistance and toughness, has high chemical and heat resistance, and biocompatibility. Sterilization options include steam sterilization, gamma sterilization, E-beam, and EtO.
  • UHMW-PE benefits include excellent wear resistance and low COFs, good impact resistance and toughness, and biocompatibility. Sterilization options include gamma, E-beam, & EtO.

COMPRESSION SHEETS:

Westlake’s compression sheets are Propylux™ HS2 heat-stabilized compression-molded polypropylene sheets made from FDA, USP VI compliant polypropylene resin.

  • Propylux is known for broad chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, hydrolysis resistance, and toughness. Suitable sterilization methods include steam autoclaving, EtO, and cold sterilization.
