Gateway Laser Services specializes in laser micromachining features on medical device components requiring micron-level precision. Our laser systems cleanly process most polymers, metals, and ceramics (both tubular and flat stock materials). Common services include laser cutting various apertures on catheter tubing and other medical tubing, along with laser drilling micro-holes for flow discs used in oxygen and drug delivery. From prototype development to full-scale production, we provide quick turnarounds at every stage.

Our Technology

Gateway Laser Services offers the most advanced laser micromachining available through Femtoseoncd, Excimer, and Fiber laser technology. We leverage femtosecond laser technology to process unique materials requiring micron-level features, such as micro-holes on Pebax tubing (or similar tubing) used for catheters. Femtosecond lasers also help eliminate heat-affected zones on certain materials.

Femtosecond Laser Benefits:

• Highly accurate, consitent micromachining with features down to.001” (25µm) and tolerances down to +/- .0002” (5µm)
• Exceptionally clean features across most polymers while maintaining the integrity of the material (minimal to no heat-affected zones)
• Quick turnarounds for prototype development and the ability to scale for production volume
