We’re once again redefining the way engineers source components for medical device product development. With ProPlate, a pioneer in engineered metal coatings, Chamfr expands its offering with innovative metal-coated components. Once considered custom, these coated products are now in-stock for early-stage development.

Advanced Metal Coating Technologies Now In-Stock

ProPlate’s innovations push the boundaries of what’s possible, transforming components like magnets, pull wires, and balloons with proprietary coatings to enhance functionality and expand design possibilities. Whether you’re developing catheter-based devices, surgical tools, or cutting-edge diagnostic systems, these advanced solutions empower rapid prototyping and precise medical device engineering.

Gold-Plated Magnets

Metal coated proplate gold plated magnets for medical devices

ProPlate’s gold-plated NdFeB cylindrical magnets are a first for Chamfr, offering engineers these new components and expanded design options for magnetic assemblies and devices.

  • Applications: Compact medical tools, implantable devices
  • Specifications:
    • Outer Diameters: 0.04″ – 0.12″
    • Lengths: 0.10″ – 0.16″

Radiopaque Pull Wire Assemblies

Achieve both functionality and imaging precision with gold and platinum-plated pull wire assemblies. These advanced metal coatings make the pull rings radiopaque, similar to Pt/Ir marker bands, without the need for welding to the precious metal. This provides an innovative solution for catheter deflection systems, where visibility and precision are critical, while maintaining seamless integration within these mechanical assemblies for steering and deflection.

ProPlate partnered with another Chamfr supplier Proto Lase, which already offers pull wire assemblies on Chamfr, and enhanced their pull wires with advanced metal coatings for added functionality.

  • Applications: Catheter deflection systems, minimally invasive surgical tools
  • Specifications:
    • Single-wire systems with gold or platinum coatings
    • Lengths up to 55 inches

Meta-Poly Plated Balloon Catheter Subassemblies

ProPlate’s proprietary Meta-Poly® coating technology creates electrode surfaces on balloon catheters. Adding a thin plated metal substrate onto the balloons surface enables energy delivery for applications such as ablation, stimulation, and sensing, without compromising the flexibility and expansion properties of the balloon. This technology opens a wide range of opportunities to enhance balloon catheter based procedures.

For these innovative subassemblies, ProPlate partnered with Poba Medical, whose extensive list of balloons and catheters are already available on Chamfr.

  • Applications: Electrophysiology, cardiac mapping, and ablation
  • Specifications:
    • 28mm spherical polyurethane balloons with various electrode plating

Gold & Platinum Ring Electrodes

These plated stainless-steel rings function as electrodes while doubling as radiopaque marker band alternatives.

  • Applications: Electrophysiology, neurovascular, and cardiovascular devices
  • Specifications:
    • Inner Diameters: 0.046″ – 0.0985″
    • Thicknesses: 0.002″ – 0.0055″

Vizi-Band Marker Band Sample Kit

metal coated vizi-band marker band sample kit for medical devices

ProPlate’s Vizi-Band® radiopaque marker kit includes five gold-plated hypotubes in varying thicknesses, providing a quick and easy way to evaluate radiopacity needs during the design phase.

  • Applications: Device prototyping, imaging optimization
  • Kit Includes: Five stainless steel hypotubes plated with gold

Why ProPlate’s Solutions Matter for Medical Device Development
